Free Search Guide

Perhaps, like many Internet users, you don’t know how to use Google, other than to type in a few search terms and click “Google search.”  In spite of those random searches, Google does its best to deliver the most relevant results to you; though, neither Google nor Bing nor any other search engine can read users’ minds (They’d like you to think they can, but they can’t).  Of course, they do their best, and we think Google comes the closest.

Now that you know Google can’t read your mind, the other secret is that they set up search tools to help you better tell them what you’re thinking.  And they’re constantly coming up with new ways to listen to what users want.  If you want to tell them what you’re thinking, you can click on the ‘Advanced Search’ button to the right of Google’s search box, or you can use the quick tips listed on this page to tell Google how to better order your search results.

Use our custom search engine to get the best results for your social media and Web content needs.

Other search notes:

  1. Google ignores Stop Words: A, And, The, In, On, Of, Be, I, Am.  Of course, there are a few exceptions, such as in a search for the band “The Who”.
*Note: If you do not want Google to ignore a stop word, put a + before the word with no space between the + and the word.
  2. Search is not case sensitive, so a search for ‘SEO Content’ will return the same results as a search for ‘seo content’.
  3. Punctuation in searches is ignored, except for $, -, _, and any other symbols Google deems absolutely relevant.
