Mind Mapping
Join me on Twitter and Facebook.
I discovered this great website called Mind Meister, which allows you to create mind maps online. It’s kind of like those cluster boards we learned how to make in 9th grade English, and it’s great for social media marketing and Web content projects.
After you set up and verify your account, you can create “My New Mind Map” or “My first Mind Map.” I am not going to get technical about how to do what. I will let you explore that, but I suggest that you watch the tutorial video in the About section before you begin. One cool thing I found about “My first Mind Map” is that it syncs with a web widget called Geistes Blitz, which will appear in your dashboard along with your other widgets. If you have an idea in the middle of the night, but don’t want to log into your Mind Meister account, just go to your Dashboard, click on it, and type in your idea to the Geistes Blitz account. This widget interfaces with your “My first Mind Map;” so when you go to your account, you’ll see what you wrote in a section of that default Mind Map called Geistesblitzes.
Along with Geistes Blitz, which is available for Mac, as well as iGoogle, iPhone, iPod Touch, Yahoo, and Windows, there are various other features. Mind Meister offers an offline mode called OffMeister. You can enable by purchasing a premium account or it is available through an Open Source Google project called Google Gears.
There also various API’s available, such as one for getting friends, another for maps, and many others. You do have to apply for an API key; though, it might be worth it. For those who don’t know what an API is, God changed His name to Wikipedia (Geez! Don’t be so serious!). All in all, the Mind Meister API’s allows anyone to write applications that interface with Mind Meister.
Mind Meister offers various free maps that other users uploaded, which you can use as models for your business, life, or anything else. These maps will help you start or run your business, plan your trip, organize your life, or organize various other parts of your life. There are more than 7,500 maps. Among some of my favorites are the maps for Business Plans, Best Online Collaboration Tools, Emerging Technologies—2009, and Social Media Websites. The websites these maps refer to are all linked for you, so it will cut your web surfing time drastically. Within each section you can search by most viewed, most recent, or top rated; or your can always scroll through the featured maps.
There are various other fun feature on Mind Meister, and I encourage you to explore all of them. They offer free membership, as well as monthly and annual subscriptions. If, after looking through this website, you want more great ways to simplify your life, as well as maximize your time and productivity, check out my website www.seobridges.com. I can help you with your basic SEO content needs, creating a social networking profile, writing articles for your website, and much more.
Happy surfing,
Erick
