I can always use a product that makes my life easier, preferably at no or little cost, and this last week I scoured the Internet looking for that product. Eyeos web office does just that (And it does it for free for individuals), and it works with many operating systems. They offer paid services for organizations, such as schools and government agencies, but their individual version is open source.
Before I tell you about those paid services, I will tell you about their open source online file storage. Eyeos is an open source document management system that allows you and other users to view each others files through their web based intranet. So, whether your writing Web content, working on social media marketing, or working another project, this is a great resource for you.
For me, I am writing a novel, so rather than carrying a thumb drive around or e-mailing documents to myself, eyeos open source web based remote desktop allows me to store my entire novel on my eyeos profile. That way, when I’m with my writing group or editor, or if I just want to view my writing for my own purposes, it’s on my virtual private server. Eyeos allows me to upload and send small and big files to myself or to others. And if I want to create a new file, either Word document or Excel spreadsheet, I can.
Along with file sharing, eyeos also features a calendar, address book, RSS feed reader, and various applications. For those who want to build an application or two, there is a web application builder called eyedesigner (learn how to build eyeos applications), as well as they offer numerous ready made applications. I searched for iPhone and Android applications on the eyeos apps site. I found mentions of both phones on the site, but nothing seemed definitive either way. Although, since eyeos offers intranet applications through their remote web desktop, I don’t know as if phone applications would be necessary (can someone from eyeos comment on this? Thanks.).
Now that you know about EyeOS open source remote desktop, let’s talk about their paid versions for business and teachers. EyeOS for schools allows teachers and students to send files to one another, reducing the need for teachers and students to walk throughout the classroom and wasting precious class time. And there are different remote desktop applications for different age groups. Of course, the implications go beyond that, but there’s a cool vid you can watch. Through Eyeos for administrations (sorry no cool vid here), such as large institutions and government agencies, eyeos can build web based applications to fit the needs of small town governments, large bureaucracies, or universities. Along with those, eyeos also offers the Meeting Scheduler, eyeDesigner, specific programming, and branded installation.
Whether you’re a venture capitalist, a teacher, or part of a life organization, I am sure you want to find ways to deepen your time. There are many cloud computing companies out there; though eyeos is a great web based CRM. And the best part is that individuals can try their open source version before making any purchasing decisions.
If you feel overwhelmed with everything Eyeos offers, they offer great support, such as their user manual, an eyeos blog, and training and support (part of their paid services). For those who want to get more involved, you can read about their eyeos community; and if after reading about it, you want to get involved, you can join the eyeos community.
Keep coming back for more information about useful, and free, services that will make your social media marketing and SEO content writing endeavors easier. And if you want me to help you give eyeos a test run, visit my Website or contact me, and let’s see how we can collaborate on your SEO content or social media marketing projects.
Until next week (I need a catchy catch phrase),
